What Colors Suit Your Skin Tone (Without Losing Your Mind)
There’s a reason one sweater makes you look half-dead while another at the same price makes you look like you slept nine hours. It’s not the price. It’s the undertone of your skin fighting with the color, or vibing with it.
The good news: there are only three undertones, and figuring out yours takes thirty seconds.
The vein test
Look at the veins on your wrist in daylight:
- Greenish → warm undertone. Your skin leans gold, peach, olive.
- Blue or purple → cool undertone. Your skin leans pink or ashy.
- Can’t tell / a mix → neutral undertone. Congrats, almost everything works on you.

What to wear based on yours
Warm skin. Your safe zone is earth tones: camel, mustard, terracotta, olive green, cream, warm red, petrol blue. Skip the super-pure cools (optic white, fuchsia, ash gray), they wash you out.
Cool skin. You glow in intense cools: navy, gray, pure white, emerald green, wine, fuchsia, purple. Muted earth tones leave you looking flat.
Neutral skin. You can pull off almost anything. Your only rule is intensity: pick tones that are neither too muted nor too electric and you’ll nail it.
This is the foundation of the four-seasons theory (winter, summer, spring, autumn), but you don’t need all that to dress better tomorrow. With your undertone alone, you already filter out half your wardrobe.
